Turn dark clothes inside out and wash in the coolest water possible.

Delicate items that must be hand-washed.
*Tips!
To prevent buttons falling off clothes (and save time by not having to sew them back on), put a dab of clear nail polish on top of the threads of the button. It will strengthen the thread and make it less likely for buttons to unravel and fall off!

If the dark items are mixed with the white items when washing, the white items may be clean but will have a dark cast on them which many times never fades away.

To make a zipper slide up and down more smoothly, rub a bar of soap over the teeth.

Sprinkle a generous amount of cornstarch or baby powder over the grease stain, allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, then brush the powder off. The powder absorbs the grease and it brushes off with the powder.

Do not soak dark- and light-color fabrics together for long periods of time; this can cause colors to run.

When jeans are being washed a tip is to either wash them alone or with other jeans or other dark clothes since the denim do have a tendency to run.

Cut your ironing time by putting a piece of aluminum foil under the ironing board cover. The foil will reflect heat so you're actually ironing from both sides at once.

To prevent new blue jeans from fading, soak your jeans in cold salt water for an hour, then wash in washing machine (inside out) on cold cycle. Note: 2 tablespoons salt per gallon of water.
